PERSONAL

My name is Michael Taylor. I am based in Busselton in the South West corner of Western Australia, home to some of the most amazing and beautiful coastal scenery, beaches, forests, native flora and fauna in the world. I travel throughout the year pursuing my passion of using photography to try and capture both the inner and outer beauty of the world around me. If not abroad, then I am at home in my trusty Geist caravan either at Taunton Farm near Cowaramup (see Special Interests) or touring Australia. I walk and trek a great deal and always take my camera backpack, which, with everything loaded, is not far off 20Kg. It keeps me fit and healthy and I hope that I can continue to view and enjoy the marvels around me for many more years to come! There are several local and International photographers who have inspired me, either through their images or their work in developing digital photography, to improve and develop my own abilities and my thanks go to them all.
I specialise in panoramas where I capture a number of images and then merge them together to make a single larger image of higher resolution. These can vary from a simple row of 3 shots to my largest to date being 4 rows of 18 shots.

EQUIPMENT

My most important pieces of equipment are: Olympus E-1 and E-3 DSLRs, Olympus Zuiko Pro digital lenses: 11-22mm; 14-54mm; 50-200mm; 50mm macro, 1.4x Teleconverter, Extension Tube, Olympus FL-50 flash unit, Gitzo Explorer 2227 tripod and 1377 ball head, Manfrotto 190MF4 tripod and 322RC2 ball head for trekking, Manfrotto 303Plus Panoramic Head, Lee Filter System and Lowepro camera backpack.

For the photographers amongst my viewers, I shoot in RAW and make my pictures by painting with light using Photoshop CS4.
